Celebrity Wedding Dress Inspiration
Thanks to their healthy bank balances and easy access to some of the best designers and experts in the industry, celebrity weddings are typically something to be admired. We’re dreamily reminiscing on celebrity wedding dresses and have picked our top 5 iconic designs below. We hope you feel inspired.
1. Hailey Baldwin
This lavish wedding in between Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber in 2019 was reportedly themed after the romantic blockbuster The Notebook. It even featured a screening of the Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling tearjerker.
Hailey’s Bardot dress was custom-made by Off White designer, Virgil Abloh. The lacy fitted number was also backless and had the phrase ‘TILL DEATH DO US PART’ embroidered into the back of the hem. Just in case Justin wasn’t aware…
Bardot or off-the-shoulder dresses are typically flattering on all body shapes and sizes. They showcase the feminine decolletage and conceal the upper arms which many women can be self-conscious about.
2. Ellie Goulding
Popstar Ellie Goulding married her sweetheart Caspar Jopling in 2019. She wore a bespoke Chloé gown with a vintage-inspired high, frilly neck and long sleeves. Beautifully traditional, we think this dress was the epitome of period-drama elegance.
@elliegoulding gushed on her Instagram page: ‘…I have never felt more special than the moment I first tried the dress on in Paris, and it was utterly awe inspiring to see the craftsmanship and attention to detail…’
High-neck designs are modest and sophisticated. They typically suit those with smaller busts as they can create the illusion of having a bigger chest.
3. Kate Middleton – The Duchess of Cambridge
Kate married Prince William back in 2011 and approximately 17.6 billion people tuned in to watch their big day on screens. Kate looked radiant in a lace-bodice gown that was created by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen. The bodice was inspired by Victorian corsetry with a narrow waist and full skirt, while the train was almost 9 feet long.
A corseted dress will show off small waists and they’re great for improving posture.
4. Angelina Jolie
When Angelina tied the knot with Brad Pitt back in 2014, her wedding gown stole the headlines. The couple’s six children were a huge part of the Versace design as their drawings were embroidered onto the gown. Made from white silk-satin, the strappy dress was gathered at the bust with an elongated train and silk veil – both adorably adorned with the children’s personal sketches.
Gathered detailing at the bust will make your chest appear bigger – this can be flattering for pear shapes.
5. Victoria Beckham
In 1999, Spice Girls sensation Victoria Beckham and football star David Beckham got married in an extravagant affair.
Victoria wore an epic wedding dress by designer Vera Wang. It was a silk pleated ball gown with a dramatically sculpted strapless neckline and a 20-foot train. Topped off with an 18K-gold tiara.
Strapless dresses show off the neckline and shoulders. Teamed with a narrow waist and full skirt, this traditional shape connotes ‘fairy-tale princess’.
That’s our top 5 iconic celebrity wedding dresses. We hope you found them interesting. Although celebrity style can be way out of the average Joe Bloggs’ budget, there are always catwalk-inspired and high-end replicas to browse on the high street.
