All About Back Detailing

While many brides focus on how they look in the mirror from the front on their big day, the back view is important to tend to as well. After all, your guests watch the back of you while you’re walking down the aisle, saying your vows, and during your first dance. Backless wedding dresses and back detailing can be very elegant and aesthetically pleasing. Discover the different types of back-focused designs and what you should consider before purchasing one.
Backless Wedding Dress
If you like your back then why not show it off on your wedding day? The bare back of a woman can be very sultry without being overly revealing. This is perfect if you’re having more of a traditional wedding or want to remain covered at the chest for modesty. While it is statement-making from behind, a backless wedding dress can be plain or high-necked from the front for a nice surprise as you turn around. Backless dresses can range from half back to full back, depending on how brave you are.
One thing to watch out for is an unsightly tan line. If you’ve recently been on holiday or are planning to go before your big day, make sure you avoid a tan line from your swimsuit or bikini top by undoing the back of it while sunbathing. You’ll want your back to be an even colour to fully showcase your backless dress.
It’s also worth looking into clearing up any ‘bacne’, that’s back acne, if you have it. You can invest in some specialised bacne treatments at a skin salon or perhaps create your own home routine of exfoliating, cleansing and moisturising your back for a clear complexion. You may need someone to help you though.
Wedding Dresses with Back Detailing
If you decide that a backless dress isn’t for you, perhaps a dress with back detailing could be a nice alternative. Perfect for giving your walk down the aisle some real wow factor, back details can include many different features such as button detailing, lace-up corsetry, beading, transparent lace and/or mesh, plus embroidery.
Keyhole Back
For those who can’t decide if they want an open back or back detailing, a keyhole back dress may be the perfect compromise. You’ll get to show a little skin while still having coverage. A heart-shaped keyhole is perfect for creating a romantic look that’s sure to have your guests saying “ahh”.
Strappy Back
If you like the idea of an open back but want to add some interest, a strappy back wedding gown is a great compromise. Discover intricate beaded straps that catch the light, plus wider straps for a modern bandaged look that’s oh so sexy.
Your dream wedding dress should reflect your personality, venue and location. A full backless dress may be great for a destination wedding on the beach but not so much for a winter wedding in the UK. Make sure you consider all factors when searching for your perfect backless or back-detailed wedding dress.
